A man and a woman died in a home explosion and fire in rural eastern Pueblo County on Thursday afternoon.
The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office reported on Saturday that the explosion was deemed accidental, but the exact cause is still unknown.
The incident occurred at a home near 57th Lane and Cherry Road, close to Boone.
When first responders arrived on Thursday afternoon, they found the home fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters quickly controlled the fire and discovered that two people were unaccounted for at the home, according to the sheriff’s office.
After extinguishing the fire, responders found one deceased individual. The second was located on Saturday morning.
The Pueblo County Coroner’s Office will release the names of the deceased and the manner and cause of death at the appropriate time.
The investigation into the explosion’s cause is ongoing.
Investigators from the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control and the sheriff’s office are looking into the incident.
