The incident took place at approximately 12:38 a.m. in the 4700 block of West Fifth Avenue.
During the traffic stop, officers noticed a gun on the lap of a male suspect.
An officer fired his weapon during the encounter with the suspect.
No one was hit by gunfire; however, the suspect received treatment at the scene from the Chicago Fire Department for minor lacerations caused by broken glass.
Two officers were taken to the hospital for observation.
The suspect was arrested, and a gun was recovered at the scene.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating the incident. The involved officers will be assigned to routine administrative duties for at least 30 days.
