Dallas rapper Zeethewizard remembered after fatal shooting

Candlelight Vigil Honors Dallas Rapper Zeethewizard

DALLAS – A candlelight vigil took place for local Dallas rapper Zecqurie Fields, known as Zeethewizard. Friends and family gathered, lighting candles in a sea of black and blue to honor him.

According to Dallas police, he was one of five people shot during a shootout outside Pinkhouse Dallas nightclub on New Year’s Day. He died in the hospital five days later.

As loved ones mourn his loss, the bright lights of police cars at the vigil remind everyone that no arrests have been made. Dallas police report that detectives from multiple units are reviewing evidence and following leads.

“This life matters. His name still carries weight,” said a pastor at the vigil. “We acknowledge tonight the grief, anger, and confusion that gun violence leaves behind.”

Jackie McQueen, a friend of the rapper, expressed sadness that the world did not see his full potential. “He has so much coming, and it’s still going to come, but it would have just hit a little differently than if it was coming directly from him,” she said.

“He has made a big impact on our lives, his children’s lives, and his family life. He leaves behind many who love him, and it’s a tragic situation,” McQueen added.

Another friend at the vigil shared, “Eternity is the word for love. It lasts forever, even when you’re gone.”

The community remembers Zeethewizard as a talented rapper with a heart of gold. In his final days, he held a toy drive for local children.

“It’s just crazy what we lost. We’re going to keep his name alive and hold it down for him,” said Amir Lucky, another friend.
