Unknown Cause of Death for 4-Year-Old Boy in Alabama

Authorities in Alabama reported on Monday that the cause of death for a 4-year-old boy remains unknown. The boy was found deceased near his father’s home.

Details of the Incident

According to AL.com, Jonathan Boley’s autopsy showed no signs of trauma or assault. He was visiting his father in Walker County when he went missing on Wednesday. His body was discovered two miles from the residence on Friday.

Last Seen and Discovery

Boley’s 6-year-old brother last saw him crossing under a fence into the woods with the family dog, Buck. The dog was found alive next to the boy’s body.

Sheriff Nick Smith stated that Boley was partially submerged in a creek. It is unclear how long he had been dead before his body was found.

Search Efforts

“One of the volunteers I spoke to said they saw the dog first and the dog kind of led them back to where John John was,” Smith told AL.com. “It appears the dog was with him the whole time.”

Father’s Arrest

Shortly after Boley’s disappearance, his father was arrested for explosive materials found in his home and on his property. The FBI also responded to the scene due to explosive materials from previous detonations found in the woods where Boley vanished.

Charges Against Jameson Boley

Sheriff Nick Smith reported that Jameson Boley, 40, was arrested for unlawful manufacturing of a destructive device or bacteriological or biological weapon. The sheriff noted that the boys lived with their mother in Florida but were with their father for five days. They were scheduled to return to their mother on Thursday.

Explosive Materials Found

Smith informed AL.com that the amount of explosives discovered could have “leveled an entire home.” It is unclear what type of explosives were in the father’s residence or why he had them. Reports indicated that the father was formerly in the military.

Additional Charges

In addition to the explosives charge, Jameson Boley was also accused of having methamphetamine within his sons’ reach. Smith stated he has been informed of his son’s death.
