A Fresno judge ruled sufficient evidence exists to proceed with the trial of two defendants accused in the 2023 shooting death of Adriana Gonzales outside Wayne’s Liquor
Murder Case Against Fresno Suspects Cleared for Trial
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — The murder case against two accused Fresno killers is cleared for trial. Fresno County Superior Court Judge Houry Sanderson ruled that prosecutors have presented enough evidence to convict Devin Miliki Senegal and Aaminah Norman-Taquee.
The two have each pleaded not guilty to the shooting death of Adriana Gonzales outside Wayne’s Liquor in 2023.
“Let’s not forget that Ms. Norman fired twice,” prosecutor Kelly Smith said. “Not just once, but shot her twice.”
Prosecutors revealed new evidence on Tuesday. Surveillance video from the scene shows the moment the victim got out of her car before the shooting.
On Wednesday, defense attorneys argued that the victim wanted trouble. “She motions toward the vehicle in which Devin Senegal and Aaminah Norman are in – a ‘come to me’ sort of motion,” defense attorney Michael Aed said.
Aed noted that one of the victim’s hands was not visible. He and defense attorney Miles Harris highlighted that live ammunition was found in her car.
Prosecutors clarified during the testimony. “Detective Franks, during the course of your investigation, did you ever develop any information that Adriana had any weapon on her on the date of the shooting?” Kelly asked the Fresno Police Detective on the stand. “No,” he said.
It was the suspect’s gun, which prosecutors say was handed between the defendants in Exhibit 11, that the judge focused on. She stated that she reviewed the video several times before making her ruling. “But for that gun being in that car, this crime wouldn’t have occurred,” Judge Sanderson said.
With the case now heading to trial, the investigation continues. Police are still searching for a third suspect, Sabrina Agosto-Ramirez, who is charged as an accessory.
“Detectives confirm that she is still outstanding and has a warrant for her arrest,” Fresno Police wrote in a statement to Action News. “We ask that anyone with information call the Fresno Police Department.”
The two defendants return to court on January 27.
