Buying a ticket to a Broadway show or an orchestra concert helps support free education programs that the Philadelphia Orchestra & Ensemble Arts provides every year.

The nonprofit partners with the Philadelphia School District to provide arts education.

Sound All Around introduces young listeners to the instruments of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Jazz for Freedom teaches middle schoolers about jazz and social change.

There are summer sessions for music and theater, including a student matinee series called Set the Stage that teaches students about musical theater.

Economic Impact

If you’re going to see a Broadway show, make a night of it. The City of Philadelphia estimates that arts visitors contribute $4 billion a year to the local economy.

Groups of 10 or more can receive up to a 40% discount on tickets.

Philadelphia Orchestra Celebrates 125 Years

The Grammy Award-winning Philadelphia Orchestra is celebrating 125 years this year.

Stars like Yo Ma, Lang Lang, and Itzhak Perlman will perform at Marian Anderson Hall to celebrate the orchestra’s legacy.

The orchestra was the first to perform on radio, television, and in movies. It also premiered many great pieces of music.

To honor this legacy, musicians will play pieces that the Philadelphia Orchestra introduced to America.

Upcoming Premieres

The orchestra is also celebrating its 25th season in the Kimmel Center and the nation’s Semiquincentennial.

In May, music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin will lead the orchestra in a world premiere by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Tyshawn Sorey.

Principal Guest Conductor Marin Alsop will present the world premiere of Wynton Marsalis’ Liberty Symphony in May.

This work celebrates all musical cultures in America and features the Philadelphia Orchestra with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.

The season also includes choral masterworks like Mozart’s Requiem and Mahler’s Symphony Number Two.

The popular Orchestra After 5 happy hour series is back.

New Dining Options

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts has two new dining destinations.

Commonwealth Plaza is home to Curtain Call, which offers coffee, sandwiches, and drinks. It becomes a lounge at night with beers, cocktails, and light bites.

A new restaurant called Leo serves coastal Mediterranean food. It is named after Philadelphia Orchestra maestro Leopold Stokowski.

Chef Chris Cyer created a menu with a pre-fixe theater experience and an à la carte menu available Wednesday through Sunday.
