Missing Dog Found with Drone Technology in New Jersey

NEW JERSEY (WABC) — A missing dog is safe again thanks to a local search and rescue team that used drone technology to find her in New Jersey over the weekend.

Final Victory Animal Rescue reported that Abbie was one of several dogs being transported from South Carolina to New England for adoption.

During a stop at the Joyce Kilmer rest stop on the New Jersey Turnpike, Abbie ran away.

Fortunately, she had an AirTag attached to her.

Final Victory Animal Rescue stated their team worked nonstop on Saturday to find help for Abbie, even though they were over 10 hours away.

Ultimately, Abbie was found and secured by the USAR Drone Team using thermal imaging from a drone.

Woodbridge Animal Control and the Woodbridge Police Department assisted in capturing Abbie after a careful plan was made to prevent her from running back toward the New Jersey Turnpike, according to Final Victory Animal Rescue.

Abbie is currently at Tri-State Veterinary Hospital in Woodbridge. She has a hip injury and some road rash, and she is being evaluated by additional veterinarians.
