A man and woman were found shot dead in their Katy home early Monday; authorities are investigating the double homicide.
Investigation Underway in Katy Double Homicide
KATY, Texas – Deputies are looking into the deaths of a man and a woman found shot in their Katy-area home early Monday morning.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported the shooting occurred shortly after 5 a.m. on Bent Springs Lane, near Mason Road and Clay Road.
A man called 911, stating that his father and mother had been shot and were beyond help.
Victims Identified
Deputies arrived to find Christopher and Trinette Lopez, both reportedly in their 50s, dead from apparent gunshot wounds. The sheriff noted that the man was found near the main living area, while the woman was located near the kitchen.
A 7-year-old foster child and two adult children in their 20s were also in the house but were not injured.
Investigation Details
Detectives have interviewed family members, neighbors, and other witnesses. They are canvassing the surrounding neighborhood for security cameras.
The case is being treated as a double homicide. Investigators have not yet determined if a weapon is in the house.
Authorities are still working to understand the circumstances of the shooting and whether anyone else was involved.
