HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A woman has been charged related to a large apartment fire that took place in Sheldon on Monday morning.
According to Brandi Dumas, the Harris County Fire Marshal PIO, the Sheldon Fire Department responded to the fire.
Investigators found that a domestic disturbance led to the woman burning her boyfriend’s clothes in a barbecue pit on a balcony.
Officials stated the woman tried to extinguish the fire and believed she had succeeded.
However, the fire rekindled, spread to the attic, and affected other apartments.
In total, 13 apartments suffered damage from fire, smoke, or water.
A collapse occurred from the second floor to the first floor.
No injuries were reported.
The woman faces charges of reckless arson.
She was also taken to the hospital for unknown reasons.
